Brief introduction to Alesta Therapeutics

Alesta Therapeutics is a biotechnology company committed to developing novel oral small molecule therapies for underserved diseases. Our current focus is developing an oral treatment for Hypophosphatasia (HPP).

What work is Alesta Therapeutics doing?

Hypophosphatasia (HPP) is a rare genetic disease that affects how bones and teeth grow and stay strong. It happens because an enzyme called ALP is not working correctly, leading to soft or fragile bones, pain, or early tooth loss. HPP can affect babies, children, or adults and symptoms can vary widely from person to person.

Alesta is conducting a clinical study and looking for volunteers in the UK with HPP to test an experimental drug called ALE1. ALE1 is designed to decrease the build-up of a substance called inorganic pyrophosphate (PPi) in patients with HPP. The current study aims to measure the safety of ALE1, the amount of ALE1 in the blood, and its effect on the body. Where appropriate, and after discussion with your physician, participants who successfully complete any of the Alesta studies may be considered for participation in later trials.

ALE1-101 Trial Information

This is a phase 1/2a randomised, placebo controlled, double-blind study investigating the safety, tolerability, pharmacokinetics, and pharmacodynamics of ALE1 on healthy adult subjects and adult patients with Hypophosphatasia (HPP). More information can be found on ClinicalTrials.gov
