Fosdenopterin for MoCD type A in Scotland

Today, 13th of January, 2025, the Scottish Medicines Consortium have released the outcome of the ultra-orphan initial assessment of fosdenopterin for the treatment of people with molybdenum cofactor deficiency (MoCD) type A. Metabolic Support UK attended the committee meeting to represent, and be the voice of, people caring for someone with MoCD type A.

As shared previously, fosdenopterin has qualified to be assessed as an ultra-orphan medicine in Scotland, which means it is approved for an initial time period of approximately three years to allow for additional evidence and data to be collected. The Scottish Government will confirm exactly when fosdenopterin will become available on the NHS in Scotland as part of the ultra-orphan pathway. Once we have more details, we will update you again.
