NICE and Health Technology Assessments

This module has been created to help you understand the National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) and what health technology assessments (HTAs) are. This module highlights the processes, stakeholders, and most importantly the critical role and value of including the lived experiences in NICE’s HTA work.

This module is primarily designed for people living with, or caring for someone with, an inherited metabolic disorder (or other rare disease), who want to engage effectively with NICE’s HTA work in their own disease area. It is also valuable for healthcare professionals, and people who would like to understand NICE’s HTA work better.

The e-module was developed through a recorded focus group session with MAP Patient Access (now known as Kintiga) and subsequently adapted into an accessible learning tool.
