Working with others
As an umbrella organisation, Metabolic Support supports, and represents, over 1.43M people living with one of over 2000 different inherited metabolic disorders (IMD) across the world. Working with other groups and organisations is vital in ensuring the best outcomes for each disorder-specific group and the wider IMD community as a whole.
We pride ourselves on connecting and collaborating with others who are offering support to those affected by an IMD. There are many ways we may work with a community group or organisation and these guidelines provide some inspiration, and boundaries, on what we can achieve together.
We can:
Signpost
We inform communities about other relevant organisations, both domestic and international, that may be able to offer support alongside ourselves; thereby improving access to bespoke support.
Share and Amplify Voices
When informed, we will share the work or events of others with our community as a whole or individual community groups when we deem it to be relevant and safe. This may look like social media posts, direct outreach routes, or featuring in our publications. Likewise, we value the opportunity to be included in the communications of others where relevant.
Collaborate on Insight Projects
Metabolic Support Insight is an area of our work where we partner with other organisations (charities, researchers, contract research organisations, pharmaceutical or biotech companies) to undertaken insight work on community needs. Unless otherwise agreed this is fee-for-service work.
Respond to Consultations
Where deemed relevant, Metabolic Support will respond to consultations and may engage with the community and/or other patient organisations to compile responses.
Open the Door
Metabolic Support has worked hard to foster relationships and connections across the globe, and both attend and present at national and international conferences and events. We aim to share these opportunities with individuals and organisations where possible and relevant.
Conferences
We may be able to attend or speak at events on a case-by-case basis. Metabolic Support cannot sponsor a conference or event.
Projects and Funding Applications
MSUK can work with other not for profit charities/patient organisations on projects that focus on patient insight and need. We can provide administrative advice and support for funding applications and/or apply for partnership funding. Metabolic Support cannot fund or apply directly for funding for disease-specific medical research.
