Grief, Bereavement, Death & Dying

Hello, I’m Helen from Metabolic Support, and I’d like to introduce our new pages on grief, bereavement, conversations about death, and dying well. We hope these pages will be a starting point for connection and collaboration. You may be here because you have experienced loss, whether recently or some time ago. You may be thinking about end of life care and personal wishes, or you may simply feel drawn to these important conversations. Whatever your reason for visiting, you are very welcome here.

Our intention is to create a thoughtful and supportive space that we can shape together as a community. We hope to share stories and insights from people living with an IMD, from those who love and care for someone with an IMD, from healthcare professionals, and from partner organisations. Grief and loss are deeply personal experiences, and wishes or plans for the end of life and beyond are equally individual, often shaped by our beliefs, faith, culture, and lived experience. There is no single way to approach these conversations, and each perspective shared here has value.

We hope this will be a space we can develop together, somewhere open and honest, where we can learn from one another’s experiences and hold that learning with care and compassion. As these pages grow, I hope they will offer reliable information and practical resources, but also provide reassurance, connection, and a genuine sense of warmth and belonging. Please do look after yourselves as you engage with this content, taking what feels helpful, stepping back when you need to, and reaching out for support if that would be beneficial. Thank you for being part of this journey with us. I look forward to hearing your ideas and to the stories and memories you may wish to share.
